The Chimney Is A Rockin'(Do Bother Knockin')

Napa Vallley Wine Club

From the email list, a one week offer.
The Chimney Is A Rockin'
Maybe you guessed I was listening to a little bit of Stevie Ray Vaughan when I wrote this little missive, but its also a little clue to the actual content. Here we have a rare offering from a major producer in the Stag's Leap District of Napa Valley. This Bordeaux blend regularly trades for around the $100 mark from many reputable retailers. If the 2012 vintage in Napa proved it is the rock-star, and 2013 a superstar encore, this is the opening act. A very good 2011 vintage. In most other situations this wine would be highly sought after and rarely discounted, yet this time it has found itself cast to the wayside in favor of consecutive near perfect vintages. It has seen plenty of praise from the major wine critics (see below), and If 2012 ($85-100) and 2013($TBD) did not directly follow, I'm sure this offer would never happen. So, here we have a wine once trading for $100, only cut the original price in half and then cut it again by twenty percent. It's less than the price of their white blend, a rarity for Napa! Enjoy this wine for years to come as the critics have suggested, up to 2026.
"92 Points"
The 2011 Red blend Elevage is impeccable in its balance. Sweet red berries, iron, tobacco, mint and spices all come together in an attractive, medium-bodied wine that offers plenty of near-term appeal. The 2011 impresses for its persistence and overall sense of balance. - By Antonio Galloni Vinous Media 11/17/2013
